Finding Inspiration in Unexpected Places

finding inspiration in Unexpected places

It was Christmas break, and our family was all gathered together at home. We were looking for a fun movie to watch. Someone suggested “The Princess Bride,” and we all agreed that it sounded like a good choice. We snuggled up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and hit play.

As we watched the movie, we were enchanted by the story of Buttercup and the farm boy and their enduring love for each other. We laughed at the silly and over-the-top characters, like the three brigands and the ancient wizard and crone. And we were moved by the themes of friendship and loyalty, as the characters supported and protected each other on their journey.

As the movie came to an end and the credits started rolling, we all sat in silence for a moment, reflecting on the life lessons that the film had offered. One lesson that stood out to us was the idea of determination and not become weary in doing good, which is highlighted in the book of Galatians.

So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.
Galatians 6:9 (The Message)

We saw this lesson exemplified in the characters of the farm boy and Inigo Montoya, who both faced numerous challenges but refused to give up on their goals.

We talked about how this lesson applied to our own lives and how important it is to stay focused and persistent, even when things get tough. We also discussed the value of perseverance and determination in helping us to overcome challenges and achieve our goals.

Overall, our family had a great time watching “The Princess Bride” and pondering some of the life lessons it had to offer. It was a fun and enjoyable way to spend the holiday break, and we all left feeling inspired and uplifted.

It’s important to be able to keep an open mind and to look for valuable lessons in all kinds of different sources, whether it be books, movies, music, or even everyday life experiences. I hope that others will also be encouraged to look for life lessons in unexpected places and to keep an open mind about where they might find inspiration and guidance.
